DAY 1 - 30TH DECEMBER

Windhoek to Waterberg Plateau Park

You will be collected at your guesthouse at 08h00 in the morning by your guide to start your Nomad Safari adventure. Our first stop will be a town called Okahandja, where the guide will get the last fresh supplies for the days ahead and some last-minute shopping for drinks and snacks can be done.

We continue onwards to Waterberg Plateau Park, arriving in time to set up our camp for tonight and then having lunch under the big trees. Some time to relax and visit the swimming pool to coll of in the December heat in the afternoon.

The Waterberg (Afrikaans: Water Mountain) is a mighty table mountain in the northern center of Namibia, about 50 km long and up to 16 km wide. To the east of Otjiwarongo, it rises up to 200 m high from the Omaheke plain. Clouds often cling to this natural barrier and then rain down.

Your guide will set a time to meet you back at the campsite to hike up the mountain for a great view of the surrounding area and for sunset. Dinner will be prepared by your guide tonight over an open fire.

DAY 2 - 31ST DECEMBER

Waterberg Plateau Park to Ongula Village Homestead Lodge

Today is an early start to break down our camp and continue to Northern Namibia. Our destination for the next two nights will be Ongula Village Homestead.

Nestled amidst the enchanting and rugged landscapes of Northern Namibia, Ongula Homestead Lodge is more than just a destination—it’s a doorway to the authentic heart of Owamboland’s culture, history, and natural beauty.

Arrival time will be in the afternoon, time for you to check it your accommodation. This evening you can enjoy a traditional meal prepared in the village and then the locals will guide you to have a new year's experience that is unique to this area and culture.

DAY 3 - 01 JANUARY

Ongula Village Homestead

Relaxing starts this morning as you will have the whole day to explore the village and can join some of the wonderful activities that they have to offer. Alternatively, a day to relax and recharge for the rest of the adventure.

You can join one of the following activities today. Authentic Village and Homestead tours, Agri Tourism adventure (Understanding traditional farming methods) Therapeutic Clay pot making, a dance and drum experience, even a donkey cart ride is a possibility.

DAY 4 - 02 JANUARY

Ongula Village Homestead to Kunene River Lodge

Today there is time to enjoy breakfast and then back on the road again, we travel further North and then to the west. The first stop today is at Ruacana Waterfall for lunch. Ruacana is a hydroelectrical plant and if you are lucky, the falls may be in flood while there.

After lunch, you continue to the lodge for the night, Kunene River Lodge. Time to set up camp. This afternoon it is time for a sunset cruise on the Kunene river before returning to the campsite to enjoy a meal cooked by the guide over the fire.

DAY 5 - 03 JANUARY

Kunene River Lodge to Omarunga Camp (Epupa falls)

You can enjoy a relaxing start today with a cooked breakfast prepared by your guide before heading out to the next destination, Epupa Falls. The road today will take us through the rugged Koakoland to Epupa Falls. Tonight is in already set up tents with a proper bed at Omarunga Camp.

Enjoy lunch that is prepared by the guide, after lunch, your guide will take you to visit a traditional Himba Village. You will have time to learn how these people have thrived in this area for centuries and still try and keep to their traditional lifestyle as modern life allows.

This afternoon you can climb a hill close to the camp for a sunset looking down onto the Epupa falls. Dinner is included at the lodge this evening.

DAY 6 - 04 JANUARY

Omarunga Camp to Ongongo Waterfalls

Today there is time for a relaxed breakfast before hitting the road again. Today you will be travelling back down south into Koakoland. You will make a stop in Opuwo the main town of the Koakoland area for the guide to restock with supplies for the rest of the tour and also time to restock with snacks and drinks.

Continue deeper to southern Koakoland to a great warm water spring at Ongongo waterfalls. Time so set up your tents again, enjoy lunch and then for the rest of the day you can relax and swim in this wonderful pool. Dinner is prepared by your guide over the open fire.

DAY 7 - 05 JANUARY

Ongongo Waterfall to Madisa Camp

An early swim is a possibility today, before breaking camp and travelling from Koakoland to Damaraland. This is a unique are of Namibia, and the guide will make a couple of stops today to explain all about the special plants in the area and how the animals use them to survive.

We hope to be at Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings by lunchtime, you will have to explore this ancient site and then continue to Madisa Camp, your home for the following two nights. Relax the rest of the afternoon, dinner will be prepared by your guide.

DAY 9 - 07 JANUARY

Madisa Camp to Omaruru Game Lodge

A relaxing morning and another great cooked breakfast to enjoy before continuing our journey. Today is all about a little luxury, and we will be travelling towards Omaruru Game Lodge. Arrival will be in the afternoon.

Time to check into our room and the relax at the pool. Tonight will be a lovely dinner at their waterhole restaurant. See animals come for a drink while enjoying dinner.

FULL ITINERARY

DAY 1

Departing from Windhoek at noon, we'll travel about 450 kilometers on well-maintained roads to Okaukuejo Camp, centrally located in Etosha. At Okaukuejo Camp, you'll find a waterhole near your campsite, known for wildlife sightings like elephants, rhinos, lions, and various antelope species. After setting up camp, you'll have the afternoon to relax and explore the area. We'll gather for a communal meal after sunset, ready to go on Safari early the next morning.

FAQ'S

Our safari spots are primarily reserved for our coliving guests. If you're interested in joining the safari without participating in the coliving, you’re welcome to reach out, but we can only confirm availability about one month before the tour begins.
Yes, the campsites in Namibia are very well equipped. You have running water, toilets, showers, sometimes a pool, and sometimes electricity. Some campsites even have little shops to buy snacks and cold drinks and a restaurant.
Yes, we share the tents and rooms on default. Single tents are possible but limited due to limited storage space. We charge extra for single tents.
Yes we can cater for vegetarians and vegans on the tours.
There are no mandatory vaccinations needed to enter Namibia. We enter Malaria risk area on this tour. Please get consulting from a doctor wether you want to take Malaria medication or not.
We provide everything that is needed to have a camping tour: tents, foam mattresses (no inflatable airbeds), sleeping bags, chairs, cutlery, bbq, and lots of sunshine!
No, this tour is pure leisure time. Please leave your laptop at the coliving space. Please also do not expect the best reception. There might be no network at all while the tour. Embrace the digital detox!

We'll journey together in a rugged Toyota Land Cruiser, equipped with a pop-up roof for optimal wildlife viewing.

THE TENTS

Share a floor tent (2,4 x 2,4m) with a fellow coliving friend. We provide mattresses, sleeping bags, and pillows. Limited Single tents on request.

DINNER SET-UP

Camping is teamwork: We will prepare dinner together and then gather around the campfire, watching the starry night sky.

OUR TOUR GUIDE

One of Buschmann Safaris local Namibian tour guides will safely guide you through Namibia and help in adventurous cases of flat tires & getting stuck.

No specific vaccinations are mandatory for entering Namibia, but consulting your doctor is recommended. Malaria is only present in the northern region. Windhoek and our weekend getaway locations are situated in malaria-free zones. If you do decide to travel further, you can get Malaria tablets in Windhoek during your stay with a prescription.
Yes, this is an option, but we are limited to single tents, due to limited storage space. For the use of a tent as single tent there is an extra charge of 340 N$ (17 €). We allocate single tents to those who request them first.
You can either share a tent with your bestie from the coliving gang or we assign a coliving mate to you with whom you will share a tent. We will only mix gender if it is approved by both sides.
Yes, sleeping bags and pillows are included in the price. We help you color-mark your pillow and sleeping bag for you during the tour.
You like being out in nature, you're looking forward to an adventure, you're aware that camping doesn't mean a pure wellness and relaxation, you look forward pitching a tent under the African night sky. You are fine with making a plan B when needed, pull the car out of the sand, change a tire and at night prefer a campfire dinner with good conversation over a luxury lodge restaurant.

Due to logistic reasons (We need a minimum number of participants) and reserving campsites in time (especially in camping high season) we need you to book your desired weekend getaways 4 weeks prior to the start of your stay with us.
Yes, this is a collective adventure, we are a team helping each other and the tour guide (Pitching tents, cooking, washing dishes). Be kind and help wherever there is something to do.
Yes, the mattresses we provide are about 5 cm thick foam mattresses for a comfortable sleep.
No, the weekend getaways are not supposed to be working days. Please take these days off and leave your laptop in the coliving space. There might hardly be any reception during the tour.
